Barber in Washington state shot, killed while cutting child’s hair, police say
A barber was shot and killed while he was cutting a child’s hair Wednesday evening, according to police in Puyallup, Washington.
The call for the shooting came in at 5:09 p.m., according to Puyallup police spokesperson Ryan Portmann.
Portmann said the 43-year-old victim was the barbershop’s owner. He was a Tacoma resident.
“The suspect walked in and walked to a specific room where this particular barber was working and shot the barber multiple times while a child was in the barber chair,” Portmann said.
Central Pierce Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene moments later and determined the man was deceased, police said.
“It does not appear that robbery was a motive,” Portman said. He also said the child sitting in the chair was an 8-year-old boy. Several other people were in the shop at the time and cooperating with police.
