Another mysterious monolith appears in Romania, then disappears
A mysterious monolith similar to the one found in Utah was recently spotted in Romania. Also similar to the one in Utah, it then suddenly disappeared.
Reuters and other outlets reported that a tall, rectangular structure seemingly made of metal was found on a hillside overlooking the city of Piatra Neamt. The 9-foot-tall structure was found embedded in the ground close to a historic Dacian fortress. Four days later, it vanished.
Employees from a local radio station, Jurnel FM, recorded a video inspecting the object.
In comparison to the Utah monolith’s smooth surface, this Romania monolith had various swirls decorating its body.
While many have purported both monoliths’ origins to be alien in nature, NPR reported that the mayor of Piatra Neamt, Andrei Carabelea, hints he believes its placement to be by strictly terrestrial beings.
“My guess is that some alien, cheeky and terrible teenagers left home with their parents’ UFO and started planting metal monoliths around the world,” he quipped in a statement translated by The Independent.
A journalist from the local Piatra Neamt newspaper, Robert Iosub, told Reuters that “an identified person, apparently a bad local welder, made it. … Now all that remains is just a small hole covered by rocky soil.”
