UConn March Madness steamroller could be start of a new era

There was a short list of believers in the potential of a rebuilt UConn roster before the season started. It was made up mostly of the UConn players and coaches themselves. The team that was among "others receiving votes" in the first AP poll of the season ended up "cutting down nets" after the last game. It was as sure a sign as any that in the new college landscape reconstituted by the transfer portal and name, image and likeness deals, anything is possible. For anyone. The Huskies not only won the title but won it in one of history's most dominating runs through the NCAA Tournament. They won their six games by an average of 20 points, closing it out with a 76-59 pasting of San Diego State.

Biden to host NCAA champs UConn, LSU; doesn't mention Iowa

President Joe Biden says he's looking forward to hosting the NCAA men's and women's championship basketball teams, the University of Connecticut and Louisiana State University, at the White House. But he did not mention whether Iowa, the defeated women's team, would also be celebrated after his wife, Jill, said she'd ask him to invite Iowa, too.

Their stories were lost to slavery. Now, DNA is writing them.

A project in Charleston, South Carolina, is using DNA to trace the African roots of three dozen people buried in the late 1700s. The remains were uncovered in the coastal city during construction in 2013. Since then, scientists have learned more about these people and their lives by pulling genetic material from their remains.

UConn holds off late San Diego State surge in title victory

UConn had its way with San Diego State in a dominating first half, threatening to turn the national championship game into a monumental rout. The Huskies buckled briefly when the Aztecs inevitably turned up the intensity before finding their footing again, finishing off one of the most dominant runs in NCAA Tournament history.
