NC Home Destroyed After Deadly Crash, Explosion

FALLSTON, NC — Two people have died and one is recovering after a truck crashed into a home overnight, causing it to explode.

Officials say the accident happened around 10:30pm Sunday on East Stagecoach Trail in Cleveland County. A pick-up truck crashed into the home hitting propane tanks that caused the explosion.

The driver in the fatal crash as Thomas J. Pruitt, 24, of Kings Mountain. The husband and wife, who were sleeping in their bedroom  at the time, died in the accident. They have been identified as Johnnie Newton, 74, and Naomi Newton, 76, of Fallston, N.C..

No word yet on what caused the driver to hit the home. Officials have said that the driver will be facing charges, but have not said what those charges will be.
