Kennesaw State is officially accepting bandwagon fans as the latest NCAA Tournament Cinderella team. Few teams have landed in March Madness with more compelling rags-to-riches credentials. The Owls finished 1-28 overall and 0-16 in the ASUN Conference in coach Amir Abdur-Rahim's inaugural 2019-20 season. The team left Division II in 2005 and didn't have a winning record in Division I before this season. They ended 26-8 and beat Liberty 67-66 in the conference tournament championship.

Daniel Jones turned one decent season into a mega-money contract that raises the standard in the NFL. Once the New York Giants gave Jones a deal worth $160 million over four years — $82 million is reportedly guaranteed for the first two seasons — the price tag went up for quarterbacks around the league. Way up.

INDIANAPOLIS — Marques Warrick scored 18 points and Sam Vinson added 16 to lead Northern Kentucky to a 63-61 victory over Cleveland State and win the Horizon League Tournament championship on Tuesday.

The Pac-12 Conference Tournament opens Wednesday in Las Vegas. No. 2 UCLA and No. 8 Arizona are the only two ranked teams. The teams met in last year's conference tournament championship. Arizona won that game. UCLA beat the Wildcats on Saturday. Both teams are expected to receive high seeds in the NCAA Tournament. UCLA is in line for a potential No. 1 seed. Other Pac-12 teams are playing this week to earn their way into the NCAA Tournament.

The Atlanta Braves have reason to hope right-hander Kyle Wright, the majors' only 20-game winner last season, still has time to be ready for opening day. If Wright requires more time to prepare for the season, the Braves appear to be developing sufficient depth to fill their rotation. The 27-year-old Wright has yet to appear in a spring game after having a cortisone shot to address a right shoulder issue in January. Ian Anderson and Bryce Elder are competing for the No. 5 spot in the rotation and provide depth if Wright isn't ready for the start of the season.

The Southeastern Conference Tournament is back in Music City after a one-year detour to Florida and almost anyone could go home with this championship. Eight teams currently are projected to make the NCAA Tournament when the bracket is announced Sunday, with Mississippi State on the bubble. 

Ja Morant is fearless on the basketball court. That aggressive style of play helped skyrocket the 23-year-old guard to a meteoric rise to NBA stardom. But his reckless approach to basketball seemingly has spilled over into his off-court lifestyle putting him on the sidelines. Morant is the target of an NBA investigation into a social media video with him apparently holding a gun. It's not Morant's first missteps off the court. Now he is missing his second game Tuesday night when Memphis visits the Los Angeles Lakers. How long he will remain on the sideline is unclear.

Top-seeded Kansas will begin defense of its Big 12 Tournament title on Thursday against the winner of No. 8 seed West Virginia and ninth-seeded Texas Tech in Kansas City. Those two meet in the first game of a first-round doubleheader Wednesday night with the winner of No. 7 seed Oklahoma State and No. 10 seed Oklahoma advancing to face second-seeded Texas. 

No. 6 Marquette is the top seed heading into the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden for the first time since the Golden Eagles joined the conference in 2005. Two of the newest Big East members, No. 15 Xavier and No. 24 Creighton, occupy the next two seeds. 

The men's college basketball season is racing toward NCAA Tournament time. Conference tournaments this week will be capped by Selection Sunday on Sunday, March 12.
