Top MLB prospects Crews, Skenes lead LSU into NCAAs

The LSU Tigers enter the NCAA baseball tournament with the top two prospects in this summer's major league baseball draft spearheading their postseason push. Centerfielder Dylan Crews is hitting .420 and was named the SEC player of the year. He's the consensus top prospect in this July's amateur draft. Next is pitcher Paul Skenes. The righty throws 100 miles per hour, leads the nation with 167 strikeouts and was named SEC pitcher of the year.

Browns' Watson makes pitch for Hopkins reunion

Standing a few feet from a golf green, Deshaun Watson made a pitch for DeAndre Hopkins to join him in Cleveland. The Browns quarterback said that he has spoken to Hopkins, his close friend and former Houston teammate, and encouraged the three-time All-Pro wide receiver to consider a reunion. Hopkins is a free agent after the Arizona Cardinals released him last week. Watson said he has been in contact with Hopkins, his teammate for three seasons.

Las Vegas Aces celebrate title and are dominating WNBA once again

The Las Vegas Aces celebrated last season’s championship over the weekend and are looking once again like the dominant team in the league. The Aces unveiled the championship banner on Saturday before dismantling a short-handed Los Angeles team. An easy win over Minnesota the next day has Las Vegas at 4-0, winning by an average of 24.75 points. Las Vegas sits atop the AP WNBA Power Poll once again.

Scheduling a hot topic at the SEC spring meetings

The Southeastern Conference began four days of meetings on the Florida Gulf Coast for a second straight year, debating what to do with its football schedule. Texas and Oklahoma join the conference next year to make it a 16-team league that is abandoning divisions. The options are sticking with an eight-game slate, but shifting to one annual rivalry game instead of the current two, or going to nine games with three annual rivals.

New Hampshire town recognized for role in racially integrating baseball

A New Hampshire stadium is being recognized for playing a largely unheralded role in helping racially integrate baseball. Much of the attention has been on Jackie Robinson, who broke the major league color barrier in 1947 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. But a year earlier, Hall of Fame catcher Roy Campanella and Cy Young award-winning pitcher Don Newcombe helped make the Nashua Dodgers, a minor league affiliate of the Brooklyn Dodgers, the first racially integrated baseball team in the United States.

Martin helps Heat to 103-84 Game 7 win over Celtics and spot in NBA Finals

Jimmy Butler scored 28 points and Caleb Martin gave Miami 26 points and 10 rebounds in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals to help the Heat beat the Celtics 103-84 and turn back Boston’s attempt at an unprecedented comeback. The Heat recovered after blowing a 3-0 lead in the series and advanced to the NBA Finals for the second time in four seasons. They will face the Western Conference champion Nuggets. Game 1 is in Denver on Thursday night.

Golden Knights beat Stars in Game 6, advance to 2nd Stanley Cup Final

William Karlsson scored two goals and had an assist as the Vegas Golden Knights advanced to their second Stanley Cup Final with a 6-0 rout over Dallas. The Stars had extended the Western Conference Final to six games after losing the first three. William Carrier, Keegan Kolesar and Michael Amadio each had a goal and an assist for the Knights. 

Wake Forest tabbed No. 1 overall seed for NCAA baseball tournament

Wake Forest is the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament and the Southeastern Conference had a record-tying 10 teams picked to play in regionals. The 64-team tournament opens Friday in 16 regionals. Winners advance to eight best-of-three super regionals. Those winners move on to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. The top eight national seeds are assured of hosting super regionals if they win their regionals.

Oklahoma softball takes Division I record 48-game win streak into WCWS

Oklahoma will seek its third straight national softball title and seventh championship overall at the Women’s College World Series. The Sooners set the NCAA Division I record with their 48th consecutive win in an 8-7 victory over Clemson on Saturday to win the Norman Super Regional. 

Canada downs Germany 5-2 for record 28th title at hockey worlds

Samuel Blais scored two goals to rally Canada to a 5-2 victory over Germany in the final of the ice hockey world championship. It's a record 28th world title for Canada and its second title in three years. Lawson Crouse, Tylor Toffoli and Scott Laughton also scored for Canada. Latvia down the United States 4-3 in overtime in a bronze medal game. It’s the first top-three finish for Latvia at the tournament.

White's putback as time expires lifts Celtics past Heat, forces Game 7

Derrick White scored on a putback with 0.1 seconds left and the Boston Celtics moved to the brink of the greatest comeback in NBA playoff history, holding off the Miami Heat 104-103 to force a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference finals. Jayson Tatum scored 31 points, Jaylen Brown scored 26 and Marcus Smart added 21 for the Celtics.

Dellandrea scores twice in 3rd, Stars stay alive in West finals

Ty Dellandrea scored twice in a 1:27 span midway through the third period and the Dallas Stars beat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 on Saturday night to stay alive in the Western Conference Final. The Stars escaped elimination for the second game in a row and head to Dallas for Game 6 on Monday night down 3-2. Dallas is attempting to become the fifth team in NHL history win a series after being down 3-0.

NORMAN, Okla. — Kinzie Hansen hit a dramatic, tying three-run home run in the seventh inning, Tiare Jennings led off the ninth inning with a solo blast and Oklahoma set an NCAA record with its 48-straight win on Saturday, a thrilling 8-7 decision over Clemson to win the Norman Super Regional.

Germany beats US in OT, reaches hockey world final vs. Canada

Germany has upset the United States in overtime to set up a final against Canada at ice hockey world championship. Frederik Tiffels scored with 2:28 left in overtime to give Germany a 4-3 win over the Americans in the semifinals. Earlier, teenage forward Adam Fantilli scored the go-ahead goal as Canada edged Latvia 4-2 in the other semi.Â
