3 next-level ice cream recipes for scrumptious scoops

A good scoop of ice cream is only as good as its base. However, when you have mastered the base recipe and classic flavors for ice cream typically found at your local ice cream shop or store, it’s time to branch out and “zhuzh” up the wow factor with different add-ins such as pretzels, marshmallows, cookie crumbles, caramel sauce and even ricotta cheese, says Ralph Kopelman, owner of Cranford Vanilla Bean Creamery in New Jersey.

If you don’t have time to make an ice cream base, it’s acceptable to buy basic vanilla and add your special mix-ins, he says.
