American Airlines Introduces Self-Tagging Baggage Procedure
Charlotte, N.C. — American Airlines is implementing a self-tagging baggage check feature at their check-in kiosks in Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Customers will check-in at the kiosk as normal, and tell the kiosk how many bags they are checking. Each kiosk has a printer that will produce a baggage tag. Passengers can then take their bags to an activation station to be weighed by an agent, and have the baggage tag activated.
American Airlines hopes this process will expedite wait times at the ticket counters and allow agents to spend more time focusing on other customer needs instead of checking bags.
This the latest improvement American Airlines has made to the check-in process, aimed at improving the overall customer experience. Last year, they added more kiosks and arranged them in pods so more people can use them simultaneously.
